I visited Shanghai couple of days ago and I saw many old apartment buildings along the main streets were covered by bamboo scaffolding with the workers busy scrambling up and down. It seems like they never mind that hundreds of bamboo poles are tied together with merely some extra long twist-ties. After a few seconds I realized that Shanghai is going to host the World Expo 2010 in next May so the local government must renovate everything which turns the city into a huge construction site just same as what’d happened before Beijing Olympics.

Bamboo shoots are refered as the new bamboo culms just come out a little bit out of ground. In China they are very popular dishes which come with various flavors and treatment. Edible bamboo shoots fall into two broad categories, winter and spring shoots. Spring shoots are larger and tougher than winter shoots, which are considered to be a delicacy. Here I’d like to show you some pictures taken during our discovery journey in the mountain for this fresh plants.
